It is the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group, an organization that promotes discussions and actions for the conservation of shorebirds and their ecosystems in the hemisphere.
It was constituted in 2006 celebrating its first meeting in Boulder, Colorado, USA.

The Western Hemisphere Shorebird Group meeting is the only event specifically designed to stimulate exchange and collaboration among shorebird scientists and conservationists from North, Central and South America. The same places that are shared by shorebirds during the non-breeding, migration and breeding seasons.
